Madrid, Spain
We will first stop in Madrid, Spain a few days before the start of our program. We will spend three days and two nights in the capital and largest city in Spain. Located on the Iberian Peninsula, Madrid is the third largest city in the European Union after London and Berlin and its metropolitan area is the third largest in the European Union after Paris and London. The population of the city is roughly 3.4 million and the entire population of the Madrid metropolitan area is calculated to be nearly 6.4 million. While Madrid possesses a modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look and feel of many of its historic neighbourhoods and streets. It boasts popular museums, royal palaces, cathedrals, and soccer stadiums.
Sevilla, Spain
Now I am in Sevilla where I will live and stay for six weeks with a host mother. Sevilla is located south west of Madrid and is about an hour and a half train ride from the beach. Seville is the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain. It is situated on the plane of a large river named Guadalquivir that runs through the city. It is the fourth largest city in Spain.
